Catering Equipment
Catering equipment is used in commercial catering operations. So, for example, you will find catering equipment in restaurants, cafes, hotels, schools and in other places where a large number of people will need to be catered for.
The equipment used here is often much the same as the cooking equipment that you use at home in most cases but it will be on a larger scale. So, for example, you may have a pasta pot at home in which you cook your pasta. A catering equivalent here may resemble your own pasta pot but it will be much bigger as it will have to cook more pasta at once than you will probably have to.
The most common types of catering equipment include:
- Ovens, grills, hobs, cooking plates, fryers, toasters and microwaves
- Pots, pans and dishes
- Mixers and blenders
- Knives and related accessories
- Food heaters and warmers
- Trolleys and storage options
Some types of catering equipment are designed for general use in a kitchen so they may be used to cook many different types of meals and foods. Others may have a specific use such as a pizza oven, for example.
